Stay Young

Stay Young - Washington plate

Being young has it’s advantages: lots of energy, strong body, flexible muscles, optimistic mind, quick to love, trust comes easily…

The qualities of being young at heart are revered by wise people the world over.

Pablo Picasso once said, “It takes a long time to become young.”

Van Gough adds, “It is a pity that, as one gradually gains experience, one loses one’s youth.”

Frank Lloyd Wright said, “Youth is a quality, not a matter of circumstances.”

Stay young. It’s much better than the alternative.

It’ll do

It'll Do - Oregon plate

Sometimes–okay, maybe more like many times–we let ourselves sweat the small stuff. Spending WAY too much time and effort perfecting something inconsequential in the great scheme of things.

Next time you find yourself stuck because you’re getting hung up on the details, try reminding yourself that it’ll do, and move on to the bigger picture.

It’ll do.  Really.

Stage

Stage - Oregon license plate

One of Shakespeare’s many famous lines is:  “All the world’s a stage. And all the men and women merely players…”

The first part’s true enough, but to say we are merely players isn’t right at all.

We are writers, directors and stars. Creating our lives and altering outcomes with our every thought and deed.

The world is a stage. And all the men and women create their lives upon it.

I care

I Care - Oregon license plate

We could use a few more people like this in the world.

Not only does this person care, he or she cares enough to declare it–and that takes gumption.

Whatever it is you care about, stand up for it. It’ll be one of the best and truest things you can do–for yourself.

Que Pasa?

Que Pasa? Washington plate

Sometimes the friendliest question we ask is “what’s happening with you?”

It gives people the opportunity to share their experiences. Knowing someone cares enough to ask–and then listen–gives us that warm, fuzzy, ‘I’m valued’ feeling.  And who doesn’t like that?

So, que pasa, mi amigo?

Who Yaah!

Who Yaah!

A lot of things are good for your heart. Being happily excited about something to the point of shouting positive exclamations is one of them.

Who Yaah!

See?  Just like eating a plate of salmon or a bowl of lentils.

You raise me up

You raise me up - Washington plate

To tell someone, “you make me want to be a better man / woman” is a pretty great compliment.

An even better one is “you raise me up.”

Whatever elevates you–whether it’s your spouse, your friend, your music or your God–is something to be deeply grateful for.

Hallelujah. Amen. And darn tootin’!
